DEGIRO broker review: main aspects of their service
Regulation and security
DEGIRO is regulated by the Dutch Financial Markets Commission (AFM) and registered with the Dutch Central Bank (DNB), which ensures strict control and protection of client assets. The website says that the company’s activities are licensed by BaFin, but there is no information about DEGIRO on the regulator’s website. The broker uses segregated accounts to provide additional protection for client funds.
Trading instruments
DEGIRO provides the opportunity to trade a wide range of instruments. This makes it accessible to traders looking to diversify their investments across different markets.
Available assets include:
- Actions
- ETF
- Bonds
- Optional
- Futures
Account types and fees
DEGIRO offers four trading account types (Basic, Active, Trader, Day Trader) with no minimum deposit, making it accessible to a wide range of investors. Fees are among the lowest in the industry, however fee structures can be complex and traders should review terms and conditions carefully before trading.
Platforms
The broker offers a simple but functional web platform and mobile application. Although the platforms have all the necessary trading and analytic features, they may not meet the needs of more experienced traders who are used to more complex tools and interfaces.
Education
DEGIRO provides limited educational resources, which may be a disadvantage for novice investors. The materials are focuced on platform guides and basic investing guides.
Advantages and disadvantages
Pros:
- Commissions are among the lowest on the market
- Wide range of available trading instruments
- Strong regulation and protection of clients’ funds
Cons:
- Limited educational resources
- Platforms may not seem advanced enough for experienced traders
- Complex fee structure can cause calculation difficulties
Summary
DEGIRO is a reliable broker with competitive commissions and a wide range of trading instruments, ideal for traders who prefer simplicity and low transaction costs. However, beginner traders may require additional education from external sources, and experienced traders may feel the trading platforms lack functionality.
I think it's a proper service for my needs. I've had a couple of incidents and had them solved correctly on the phone.

ReplyAfter trying out various platforms I decided to stick to this one as it had everything I was looking for: a wide choice of stock exchanges and other products, a clean interface with easy navigation, a good app, and very reasonable fees. I also find the financial information on stocks from different markets very comprehensive.
